The 1st Dongji Cup Brisbane Chinese Tennis Invitational 2025
On 16 February 2025, the 1st Dongji Cup Brisbane Chinese Tennis Invitational was grandly held in Brisbane, Australia, on the private tennis court at the home of Australian professional tennis player Priscilla Hon.
The event was held under the guidance of the International Chinese Tennis Federation (ICTF), with ICTF Founder and President Mrs Lucy Chen-Jin (Chen Ping) serving as Tournament Chair.
Pastor Ming Ho — pastor of Brisbane’s New Creation Grace Church and father of Australian professional player Priscilla Hon — served as Honorary Chair, and his wife Mrs Connie Ho also took part in the event, beautifully reflecting the union of family, faith and tennis culture.
This ICTF-guided event was supported by Australian professional players Priscilla Hon and Jeremy Jin.
Notably, 2025 marked a major breakthrough year in Priscilla Hon’s career: she reached the third round of the US Open women’s singles for the first time and broke into the WTA Top 100 for the first time, achieving a career-high ranking of world No. 91 and establishing herself as one of the leading figures in Australian women’s tennis.
Jeremy Jin ("Jin Tong") is an Australian professional tennis player and a starting member of the University of Florida men’s tennis team. He represented Australia at all four junior Grand Slams in 2022, reached a career-high ITF Junior world ranking of No. 42 and a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 694 (27 November 2023), and won the men’s singles title in the Masters Division of the 2025 ITA All-American Championships. He is one of the outstanding young players nurtured by the International Chinese Tennis Federation (ICTF).
The opening ceremony was held in a warm and joyful atmosphere, hosted by Ms Yu Jiayi — a pioneer of the Chinese pop music scene, a special guest of China Central Television (CCTV) and a celebrated Chinese-Australian vocalist — who travelled from Sydney especially for the occasion.
To the stirring strains of the “Athletes’ March”, the participating teams entered in turn, including:
* International Chinese Tennis Federation (ICTF)
* Brisbane New Creation Grace Church
* Brisbane Dongji International Group
* PS Club Australia
* Seed Tennis Academy
* Bee & Snail Flower Studio
Federal MP Ross Vasta (Federal Member for Bonner) attended the opening ceremony and delivered an address. He praised the event’s important role in promoting community exchange and multicultural harmony, and thanked the organisers, sponsors and court owners whose joint support made the event possible.
ICTF President Mrs Lucy Chen-Jin said:
The International Chinese Tennis Federation has always been committed to building a platform of health, happiness and friendship for Chinese tennis lovers around the world. As an ICTF-guided event upholding the motto of “Health, Happiness, Friendship”, this tournament aims to build a signature amateur tennis event that belongs to the Chinese community, create a bridge of friendship for Brisbane’s Chinese tennis enthusiasts, and drive the continued development of Chinese tennis — bringing more people together through tennis and forward through friendship.
The event was title-sponsored by Brisbane’s Dongji International Group.
Group Chairman Mr Kevin Shi served as Executive Chair of the tournament, fully supporting the promotion and development of Chinese tennis in Brisbane.
After a week of thrilling competition, the six teams contested a mixed-doubles round robin with drawn pairings, ultimately producing the podium finishers:
Champions
Jimmy (Seed Tennis Academy) / Kevin Shi (Dongji International Group)
Runners-up
Michael Jin (ICTF) / Gemma (Bee & Snail Flower Studio)
Third place
Lucy Chen-Jin (ICTF) / Jack Ba
The inaugural Dongji Cup not only fostered exchange and friendship among Brisbane’s Chinese tennis community, but also showcased the ICTF’s important influence in developing overseas Chinese tennis, uniting Chinese communities and promoting cross-cultural exchange.
As the guiding organisation of this event, the ICTF will continue to uphold the values of “Health, Happiness, Friendship” and join hands with more partners worldwide to build internationally influential signature events for Chinese tennis — bringing Chinese communities around the world together through tennis and advancing Chinese tennis towards new milestones.
