2020 “Weiyang Cup” 13th International Chinese Tennis Open (Sydney) The 2020 “Weiyang Cup” 13th International Chinese Tennis Open was grandly held in Sydney, Australia. Ten Chinese tennis club representative teams from around the world, together with more than 120 elite Chinese tennis players, distinguished guests, and tennis enthusiasts, gathered in Australia for an international tennis event that combined competition, culture, tourism, and friendship. The welcome banquet featured an impressive lineup of distinguished guests: Lucy Chen-Jin, President of the International Chinese Tennis Federation and President of the World Chinese Tennis Association, attended the welcome banquet as both an honored guest and participating athlete. Hong Jin, Honorary President of the International Chinese Tennis Federation, also attended as a distinguished guest and athlete. Australian National Team coach Jarrad Bunt attended the welcome banquet and, together with Australian junior tennis champion coach Jeremy Jin — recipient of the 2019 Australian Best Coach Award — shared valuable insights and successful experiences in Australian junior tennis development. Jeremy Jin also attended the banquet as the Image Ambassador of the International Chinese Tennis Federation and an Australian junior tennis champion. He represented Australia at the Paris World Junior Tennis Championships in 2012 and later represented Australia in the Junior Grand Slam tournaments in 2022. Australian Chinese Tennis Ambassador Mr. Zhan Yongjian, Chairman of Australia Weiyang International Group Mr. Zheng Changwei, and Executive President of the International Chinese Tennis Federation Ms. Xiao Weidong also attended the welcome banquet and tournament events. After several days of exciting and intense competition: • Australia Jintong Tennis Club won the Team Championship • Sydney Tigers Representative Team won the Runner-up title • Jilin Edelweiss Tennis Team won Third Place During the tournament, participants not only competed in high-level international Chinese tennis matches, but also embarked on an exciting Australian tennis cultural tour. From January 6–23, participants attended the semi-finals and finals of the Sydney United Cup and later traveled to Melbourne to watch the Australian Open live. After the Australian Open, some participants continued their tennis sightseeing journey in New Zealand, while others remained in Melbourne to further explore the city and visit the historic Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club, where they exchanged tennis skills and friendship with local Chinese tennis players. Throughout the 20-day journey, natural scenery and urban culture blended beautifully with tennis, gourmet cuisine, and fine wine. Watching world-class matches while participating in the tournament themselves created a unique and unforgettable experience. United by their passion for tennis, participants fully immersed themselves in this inspiring journey of friendship, culture, and international exchange. During the International Chinese Tennis Open, Australian mainstream and Chinese-language media gave the tournament extensive attention. The well-known Australian Chinese media platform “Australia Vision” conducted live online broadcasts of the event. The overall atmosphere was warm, vibrant, professional, and filled with passion and hope, fully showcasing the unity and energy of the global Chinese tennis community.
