2016 Sanya “Yishanhu Cup” The 1st International Chinese Tennis Invitational Tournament In February 2016, the inaugural International Chinese Tennis Invitational Tournament was grandly held in Sanya, one of China’s most beautiful coastal cities. Surrounded by blue skies, tropical ocean views, swaying coconut trees, and gentle sea breezes, Chinese tennis enthusiasts from around the world gathered in this tropical paradise. Through the spirit of tennis, they came together for a passionate and unforgettable celebration, opening a new chapter in international Chinese tennis exchange. Amid the festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year, soft ocean breezes, and joyful celebrations, this seven-day international tennis event concluded successfully. A total of 24 Chinese representative teams and 300 players from various provinces and cities across China, as well as Australia, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other countries and regions, gathered in Sanya during the Lunar New Year season. The tournament fully demonstrated the unity and friendship of Chinese tennis enthusiasts worldwide, presenting an extraordinary and unforgettable international tennis event for the global Chinese tennis community. The tournament was organised by the International Chinese Tennis Federation (ICTF) and proudly title-sponsored by Sanya Poly Real Estate Investment Development Co., Ltd. Ms. Lucy Chen-Jin, Chairwoman of the International Chinese Tennis Federation, attended the Opening Ceremony as both an honoured guest and tournament player. Mr. Yang Zhijie, Party Secretary of Heilongjiang Construction Group, attended the Opening Ceremony, while Mr. Liu Zhiwei, Special Vice Chairman of the Chinese Tennis Association, also attended the Opening Ceremony and participated in the competition. Notably, the tournament attracted many highly respected elite Chinese tennis players, including Asian Games champions and former Chinese National Team players Pan Bing, Li Depeng, and Liu Hua. Their participation elevated this Chinese tennis gathering into a high-level international tennis celebration. It also broadened public perspectives on Chinese amateur tennis events and strengthened interaction and exchange between grassroots players and professional athletes, making the tournament an innovative and influential international tennis exchange event that brought exceptional professionalism and international prestige to the inaugural competition. During the tournament, the organising committee carefully arranged a variety of cultural exchange activities, including night cruises around Sanya Bay to experience Sanya’s unique tropical coastal scenery, as well as grand welcome banquets and elegant closing awards ceremonies. These activities allowed players from around the world to fully experience the cultural charm of Sanya and the joyful atmosphere of the Chinese New Year celebration alongside the excitement of the competition. After intense competition, the Kaohsiung Construction College Team from Taiwan won the team championship, the Sanya Yishanhu Team claimed the runner-up title, and the Xi’an Alliance Team won third place. The successful hosting of the inaugural Sanya tournament not only laid the foundation for the global development of the International Chinese Tennis Federation, but also officially marked the beginning of the International Chinese Tennis Open’s journey onto the world stage, becoming an important milestone in the history of global Chinese tennis exchange.
