2017 Mount Fuji “Jintong Cup” 5th International Chinese Tennis Open Tournament The 2017 Mount Fuji “Jintong Cup” 5th International Chinese Tennis Open Tournament officially opened on August 28th beside the beautiful Lake Kawaguchi at Mount Fuji, Japan, and concluded successfully on September 1st in Ito City. The tournament was organized by the International Chinese Tennis Federation (ICTF), hosted by the Tokyo Chinese Tennis Association and the Fuji-Yoshida City Tennis Federation of Yamanashi Prefecture, and co-organized by the Vancouver Chinese Tennis Team (Canada), Fujian Rongshuchun Tennis Club, and Ice Fish Tennis Club. A total of 14 overseas Chinese tennis teams and more than 100 players from around the world participated in the event. After four days of exciting and intense competition, the Beijing–Mount Fuji Friendship Tennis Team won the championship title, the Yokohama Chinese Tennis Team from Japan claimed the runner-up position, and Australia Jintong Tennis Club earned third place. Ms. Lucy Chen-Jin, Chairwoman of the International Chinese Tennis Federation, attended the Opening Ceremony as both an honored guest and participating player. Mr. Chen, President of the Tokyo Chinese Tennis Association, also attended the Opening Ceremony as both guest and player. Speaking of the “Jintong Cup,” the origin of this tournament name is closely connected to Australian Chinese tennis prodigy Jeremy Jin, affectionately known as the Jintong From a very young age, Jeremy demonstrated exceptional tennis talent and quickly became one of the most outstanding junior tennis players in Australia. Compared with the previous international tournaments held in 2016, the 2017 event introduced a brand-new name — the “Jintong Cup” International Chinese Tennis Invitational Tournament. The inspiration behind this title came directly from Jeremy Jin’s remarkable achievements in junior tennis. In 2016, Jeremy Jin captured the prestigious Australian “Bruce Cup” U12 Junior Tennis Championship, defeating the top junior players from across Australia and winning the singles title of this elite platinum-level tournament. Since the establishment of the Bruce Cup in 1938, Jeremy became the first Chinese junior player in history to have his name engraved on the championship trophy, instantly becoming a source of pride for Chinese communities worldwide. In the same year, Jeremy also won the Australian Boys’ 12/U Singles Championship and achieved the No.1 national ranking in his age group throughout Australia. One of the most unforgettable moments came on May 26th, 2017, when Jeremy travelled to Paris with the blessings and congratulations of then Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to represent Australia at the prestigious 2017 Longines Future Tennis Aces International Junior Tournament. On July 15th, Jeremy captured another major title by winning the highest-level Gold Series Championship in the 14/U division. Shortly afterward, on July 17th, he travelled to Germany for a month-long European tour representing Australia in the European Junior Circuit. Because of Jeremy Jin’s outstanding achievements and his contribution to bringing honor to Chinese tennis internationally, the International Chinese Tennis Invitational Tournament was officially named the “Jintong Cup.” The purpose of this naming was to inspire more young Chinese tennis players around the world to step onto the international stage, pursue excellence, and win greater honors for the global Chinese tennis community.
